Parks and Rec Summer Notes!


30+ Pick-up Basketball: Sunday 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., October  6, 13, 20, 27. $16 for session or $5 drop-in. East Haddam Elementary School Gym.

16+ Volleyball: Tuesday 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. October 1, 8, 15, 22 (No Oct. 29). $16 or session or $5 drop-in. Municipal Gym.

18+ Open Gym Soccer: Monday 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. October 7, 21, 28. (No Oct. 14). $9 session. $5 Drop-in. Municipal Gym.

Boot Camp: Ages 16+. Boot Camp Fitness offers custom small group training sessions offered by a Certified Personal Trainer.  Our sessions focus on exercises and functional training.  A 60-minute workout with a 15-minute ending stretch will improve your core strength and balance. October 22 - December 19 (No October 31 and November 28). 1x/week $64, 2x/week $96, or $10 drop-in. Classes will be held in the Old Town Hall on Town Street on Tuesday, 6:00 - 7:15 p.m. and Municipal Gym on Thursday, 5:45 - 7:00 p.m.

Gentle Yoga: This class is appropriate for all levels of fitness or yoga experience. Ages 16 and up. Improve your strength and flexibility while decreasing stress. Enjoy moving your body and breathing mindfully!
Sunday: September 22- October 27. 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Senior Center. Wednesday: October 23 - December 4 ( No Nov. 27). 6:30-7:30 p.m. $60 for each 6 week session or $15 for a single class.

Co-Ed Open Gym Basketball Grades 9-12: Co-Ed- Monday, November 18. Boys-Tuesdays, November 12, 19, 16. Girls- Wednesdays, November 6, 13, 20. 2:15 - 4:15 p.m. Cost $5 for all 4 days. No drop-ins. Municipal Gym.

2024-2025 Youth Basketball Grades K-8: Grades K-2, Clinic format. Saturdays, January 4- February 8. Grades 1 & 2 - 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., K - 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.  East Haddam Elementary School. Cost $85. Registration deadline December 1. Grades 3-8, traditional season. 1-2 weekday practices beginning December 2. East Haddam Elementary School. Saturday games, January 4- March 1. Municipal gym. Cost $130. Registration deadline November 3. Late fee $20 after deadline. Parent volunteers needed. Head coach receives free registration for one child in the program.

Mad Science STEM Odyssey for Grades 1-3: Join the Mad (Science) Labs program after school for a hands-on exploration of sights, sounds, nature, and more! Optical illusions, the secret components of white light and hidden rainbows, and movies explore our sense of sight. Other senses, such as taste and hearing are investigated too. Thursdays, January 7 - February 11. 3:15 - 4:15. (1/14 and 2/11 -  2:15 - 3:15 p.m. early dismissal). East Haddam Elementary School. Cost: $143.

Minecraft Engineering with LEGOS for Grades 1-3: Venture into the world of Minecraft in our unique LEGO® experience. Get ready to build your base, craft your tools, use your Minecart to harvest raw resources, and battle to stop the Ender Dragon from ending the world. Come explore the endless possibilities of LEGO® with a trained Play-Well instructor. Mondays, November 4, 11, 18, 25, December 2, 9. 3:15 - 4:45 p.m. East Haddam Elementary School. Cost $144.

Food Explorers Grades 4-5: Students will learn about each of the five sections of MyPlate. Each week, they will focus on cooking a recipe made with ingredients from the corresponding food group. Students will make a dessert inspired by favorite holiday flavors and foods. Recipes include: Chocolate Orange Brownie Bites, Tiramisu Pies, Gingerbread Mini Donuts, Biscoff Banana Trifles. All recipes are nut-free but may contain dairy, eggs, and gluten. Tuesdays, November 26-December 17. 3:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. Nathan Hale-Ray Middle School Cost: $84

American Red Cross Babysitter Class:   Must be at least 11 years old to take the class. Participants will learn basic skills needed to be a safe babysitter. Attendee will receive a certificate if they complete the entire class and demonstrate skills to the instructor. November  4, 18, 25. 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Municipal Office Complex. $66 for the session.

Stop the Bleed Course: This is a FREE 60-90 minute class presented by STOP THE BLEED, American College of Surgeons. Learn how to stop bleeding until the First Responders arrive. 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. on the third Monday of every month. Next class is October 21, 2024. Municipal Building, Meeting Room 3. Space limited. Home School Family Open Gym: Open gym offers a safe place for homeschool families to get together, burn off some energy, and have fun! Bring your families and sports/game equipment to the Municipal Gym. Parks & Rec equipment is available upon request. Suitable for all ages. Tuesday,October 1, 8, 15, 22 (No Oct. 29). Registration required.  $5 per family for all 4 days.
