Town Beach Kayak/Canoe Storage Rental
Enjoy the convenience of having your kayak or canoe ready to launch right at Town Beach from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. The storage fee is $80.00 per season per vessel with a limit of 2 vessels per family. Full payment is due at the time of rental. Lower racks are reserved for those with health conditions that make it difficult to handle an upper rack. Payment can be made in person at the Parks & Recreation office or online at easthaddamrec.com. We accept cash, check, or credit card. You can also pay online if you'd like by going to our website, login, click on register/store and scroll down to 2025 seasonal kayak storage rental. We will provide a sticker for you to affix to your kayak(s) once we have the completd application and payment. 

East Haddam Town Beach Parking Permit Regulations

As of Saturday, May 24, 2025 all vehicles must have a Town of East Haddam permit or visitor’s daily pass to park at the Town Beach through September 1 (Labor Day). The Town Beach is open daily from dawn until dusk. Lifeguards are on duty daily from 10am-5pm, beginning June 19. All visitors must adhere to the beach regulations (below) or will be asked to leave.


PROCEDURES FOR PERMANENT RESIDENT PASSES
Town permits may be obtained at no cost from the East Haddam Public Works Department. If you do not have a current permit, we will accept a driver’s license with current East Haddam/Moodus/Lake Hayward address noted. If driver’s license does not include an East Haddam/Moodus/Lake Hayward address, a suitable proof of residency such as tax bill or utility bill must also be presented. Driver’s license or photo ID will be matched with either the tax bill or utility bill.
Note: Registered motorcycles require a parking pass.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR VISITORS/NON-RESIDENTS
Non-resident daily passes may be obtained in person from the Town Beach parking attendant. Parking pass must be placed on the car dashboard, so it is visible to beach attendant. Please note, there is no parking on the street and there is NO OVERNIGHT PARKING ALLOWED.

A non-resident season pass may be purchased at our Parks and Rec Office (1 Plains Road, Moodus, CT 06469) or on our website
www.easthaddamrec.com (must create an account). Season passes are not available for purchase at the beach. A completed application
must accompany payment. If paying by check, please make payable to: EHPR, P.O. Box 385, Moodus, CT  06469. All season passes will be mailed to the address provided or may be picked up in person at the Parks and Rec Office. Season passes must be displayed so they are visible to beach attendant. Please note parking on the street  and OVERNIGHT PARKING ARE NOT ALLOWED.

GENERAL REFERENCES

162-1. Hours.
The area shall be open from sunrise to sunset, with exceptions by
permission of the Recreation Director.
 
162-2. Parking regulations.
Vehicles are not allowed across the pond causeway to the swimming
and picnic area without staff permission.
Parking cars and boat trailers shall be limited to designated areas only.
 
162-3. Beach regulations.
Swimming is allowed in the designated area only.
When no lifeguards are on duty, swim at your own risk.
No glassware or bottles are allowed.
Refuse shall be placed in designated containers.
No animals or pets are allowed.
Only United States Coast Guard approved flotation devices are allowed.
Athletic equipment is allowed in designated areas only.
No smoking or vaping.
No open flames (including bonfires and grills) unless prior written
approval is obtained from the Recreation Director.
 
162-4. Boat regulations.
All boats must be launched and stored in the designated area.
No boats or water skiers are allowed within 100 feet of the swimming
area.
Boats, cars or trailers may not be left in the area after closing time.
 
162-5. Alcoholic beverages.
The consumption of alcoholic beverages shall not be permitted on Town
beach property, including the parking lot and fields, and no alcoholic
beverages, whether in open or sealed containers, are permitted on Town
beach property, including the parking lot and fields, without prior
permission from the Board of Selectmen.
 
162-6. Penalties for offenses.
Anyone violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be fined not more
than $250 and be subject to loss of park privileges.

18+ Pick-up Basketball: Monday 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., September 8, 22, 29 ( No Sept. 1 or 15). $12 for session or $5 drop-in. Municipal Gym.

30+ Pick-up Basketball: Sunday 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., September 7, 14, 21, 28. $16 for session or $5 drop-in. Nathan Hale-Ray High School.

Boot Camp: Ages 16+. Boot Camp Fitness offers custom small group training sessions offered by a Certified Personal Trainer.  Our sessions focus on exercises and functional training. A 60-minute workout with a 15-minute ending stretch will improve your core strength and balance. September 30 - November 20. Classes will be held in the Old Town Hall on Town Street on Tuesday, 6:00 - 7:15 p.m. and Municipal Gym on Thursday, 5:45 - 7:00 p.m. 1x/week $64, 2x/week $96, or $10 drop-in.

18+ Pickleball Sessions:  Sunday, September 7, 14, 21, 28. Open to all levels. Wednesday, September 3, 10, 17, 24. 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. - Intermediate/Advanced. Friday, September 5, 12, 19, 26. 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Open to all levels. $60 Pickleball Club Card, or $8 drop-in. Municipal Gym.

16+ Open Gym Soccer: Monday 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. September 22, 29 ( No Sept. 1, 8 , 15). $8 for session. $5 Drop-in.Municipal Gym.

16+ Volleyball: Tuesday 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. September 2, 9, 23, 30 (No Sept. 16). $20 for session or $5 drop-in. Municipal Gym.

Gentle Yoga: This class is appropriate for all levels of fitness or yoga experience. Ages 16 and up. Improve your strength and flexibility while decreasing stress. Enjoy moving your body and breathing mindfully! Sunday: September 14 - October 19. 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Senior Center. Wednesday: September 10 - October 15. 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., Senior Center.  October 1 & November 5- Municipal Building, Parks & Rec Activity Room.  $60 for each 6 week session or $15 for a single class. 

Food Explorers: Grades 1-3. Each week you’ll make brand-new recipes focused on fall flavors and ingredients. You’ll be making: Pumpkin Mousse Trifles, Apple Fritters, Snickerdoodle Cupcakes, and S’mores Donuts. All recipes are nut-free but may contain dairy, eggs, and gluten. Wednesdays, September 24 - October 15. 3:15 - 4:15 p.m. East Haddam Elementary School. Cost $84.

American Red Cross When I’m in Charge Class:  Ages 9-12. Participants will learn the safe way to stay home alone. This class can help students make safe decisions and begin to feel more comfortable with their skills and abilities. Topics include internet safety, sibling care, and basic emergency care. Classes will be taught by a certified American Red Cross instructor. Participants must be at least 9 years old to take this class. Thursday, September 11, 5:15 - 6:45p.m. Parks & Rec Activity Room. Cost $32.

American Red Cross Babysitting Class:
Participants will learn the basic skills needed to be a safe babysitter. Attendee will receive a certificate if they take the entire class and successfully demonstrate their skills to the American Red Cross instructor. Must be at least 11 years old to take the class. October 20, 27, November 3. 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Municipal Building. Cost: $60.
