Camp Scholarship Fund Policy


Policy: Camp Scholarship Fund
Participants: Ages 3-Grade 8, Boys and Girls
Fee Charged Participants: TBD + $10 Recreation fee (Dependent length of program)
Intent: The intent of this policy is to provide support to any community member who wishes to participate in a camp
program this is offered through the Town of East Haddam’s Recreation Department.
Account Funding: The Recreation Commission proposes that 50% of all net revenues earned from the Summer Day Camp
program be placed in a SRF to be used for the following summer camp program participants. Additional funding will be
sought from local charities, businesses, and community organizations. The scholarship fund will provide the opportunity to
seek donations from the general public and engage in fundraising efforts to support the fund.
Camp Scholarship Fund Details: East Haddam Parks and Recreation has developed a scholarship fund for East Haddam
residents requesting financial assistance to participate in community recreation camp programs. East Haddam residents who
meet the qualifications and income requirements listed below as well as contribute a minimum of $15 towards each
registration fee are eligible to apply. Please review the eligibility criteria and instructions below for participation.
1.) Fill out attached application form. Incomplete forms will not be processed.
2.) Applicant must be a resident and reside in East Haddam.
3.) Copies of the following are required:
a. Proof of residency (REQUIRED) – Copy of utility bill
b. Proof of one of the following programs
i. Medicaid
ii. WIC (Women, Infants, and Children)
iii. Free/Reduced Price School Meals
4.) The participant must pay a minimum of $15 towards each registration fee, unless otherwise specified (Fee must
accompany application). Fee will not be applied until application has been approved.
5.) It is intended that this assistance be temporary. Participants may be required to pay partial costs to allow
department to support several families.
6.) All requests must have a participant registration form attached.
7.) Funds are limited, and subject to availability.
8.) Fee assistance is awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
9.) Fee assistance is to be used for registration and may cover field trip fees if funding is available.
10.)Any past due accounts must be brought current before a fee assistance application is considered.
11.)Decisions regarding assistance are final.
12.)Applicants who falsify information or do not attend class regularly may be ineligible for fee assistance. If
extenuating circumstances, please call the Recreation Director at (860) 873-5058.
13.)All applications are kept strictly confidential.
Additional Financial Support Opportunities: There may be a limited number of camp staff positions that adults
may apply and qualify for to reduce the cost of camps for their children. If you are interested in more information,
